Through expanded Adopt-a-School Program

DIPOLOG CITY , Misamis Occidental — The Government Service Insurance System is strengthening its partnership with the Department of Education to help bridge learning gaps in the country’s most remote areas.

This year, through the Adopt-a-School Program, the GSIS is providing assistance to 30 public schools, the highest number since the initiative began in 2014. To date, 164 schools nationwide have benefited from the program. San Francisco Elementary School in Bagong Nayon is among the latest beneficiaries. The school, listed by DepEd as one of its “Last Mile Schools,” serves 22 students with four teachers. Reaching the community requires a one-hour drive followed by a three-hour trek through upland terrain.

GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso and DepEd representatives signed today the Deed of Donation. The donation includes an information and communications technology package of five laptops, nine mobile tablets and two printers.

The ongoing partnership between the GSIS and the DepEd is providing educational resources to underserved communities. By working together, both agencies are helping to equip schools with modern technology and support public education in areas of greatest need.

“Every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of where they live,” Veloso said. “Our partnership with the Department of Education helps us reach more learners and bring meaningful change to schools across the nation.” (end)
