Patunay ng matibay na kooperasyon ng PH, Sokor

NAGPASALAMAT si Leyte 1st District Rep. Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez sa pamahalaan ng South Korea sa donasyon nitong 2,016 metrikong tonelada ng bigas sa Pilipinas.

Ayon kay Romualdez, ang donasyon ay makatutulong upang mapanatiling matatag ang seguridad sa pagkain sa bansa sa gitna ng dumaang kalamidad.

Ayon sa Korean Embassy, ang bigas ay ibibigay bilang tulong sa mga nagdaang sakuna at tugon sa mga komunidad na nagkakaroon ng kakapusan sa suplay.

“South Korea’s heartwarming donation is proof of its strong ties with the Philippines and its selflessness to look out for its neighbors in Asia—a reflection of Asian values of unity and community,” ani Romualdez.

Dagdag pa ng mambabatas, “The Philippines and its people are truly grateful for the helping hand that Seoul extended to us in our time of need. It would boost our government’s efforts to extend assistance to many of our kababayans affected by the floods.”

Tiniyak ni Romualdez na ang donasyong bigas ay gagamitin nang tama at ayon sa pinaglaanan nito.

“This donated rice will be used as intended: in delivering aid to disaster victims and providing access to affordable food in our most vulnerable communities. This is how the Philippines repays the kindness of its allies and neighbors: by bringing the aid it receives to people and places that need it the most,” wika ni Romualdez.

Gaganapin ang turnover ceremony sa Agosto sa Maynila. Sa 2,016 metrikong tonelada ng bigas, 1,616 ay ibibigay sa Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) at 400 naman ay para sa Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

“This generous donation could also complement the Marcos administration’s ‘Benteng Bigas, Meron Na!’ initiative and will certainly help the Philippines inch closer to its goal of attaining food security,” dagdag pa ng kongresista.

Hinimok ni Romualdez ang mga ahensya ng gobyerno na tiyakin ang mabilis at maayos na pamamahagi ng bigas.

“Ang bigas na ito ay ibibigay sa atin para mapadali at mapabilis ang relief operations ng pamahalaan para sa mga nasalanta. Hindi dapat pinaghihintay ang mga benepisyaryo at dapat matanggap nila ito sa maayos at organisadong proseso, tulad nang ninanais ng South Korea,” saad ni Romualdez.

Noong Pebrero, nagpadala rin ang South Korea ng 4,000 metrikong tonelada ng bigas bilang tulong matapos ang pananalasa ng Tropical Storm Kristine.

Ang bagong donasyong bigas ay bahagi ng Tier 3 program ng ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve, kung saan aktibong kalahok ang South Korea bilang donor.
