NANGAKO si Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co na siya ay babalik sa Pilipinas upang sagutin ang mga mali at walang basehang alegasyon laban sa kanya sa tamang forum.

Sa isang liham kay Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III, sinabi ni Co na kanyang ikinalulungkot ang ginawang pagbawi ng kanyang travel clearance na kailangan niya upang makapagpagamot sa ibang bansa.

“I received news of your revocation of my travel clearance with both sadness and grave concern. I am saddened that my colleagues in the House of Representatives would deprive me of the time needed for medical care that I have long previously scheduled and gravely concerned that the decision to revoke my travel clearance was borne by pressure, rather than adherence to facts and procedure,” ani Co.

“I have every intention of returning to the Philippines. I am also intent on belying the false claims made against me before the proper forum,” dagdag pa niya.

Inakusahan si Co ng budget insertion sa panukalang 2025 national budget at iginiit na ang mga pagbabagong ginawa sa bicameral conference committee ay inaprubahan ng Senado at Kamara de Representantes.

“The insinuation that, on my own, I had made insertions is untrue,” ani Co sa kanyang sulat. “The Bicameral Report and 2025 GAA were approved by both Houses at plenary sessions and followed the proper process.”

Sinabi ng mambabatas na siya ay nangangamba dahil hinatulan na siya ng publiko kahit na wala pa mang kasong isinampa laban sa kanya.

“I am very much apprehensive about what awaits me should I return, given that the public and your good office have prejudged me,” sabi ni Co kay Speaker Dy.

Itinanggi rin niya ang iba pang akusasyon―kabilang ang umano’y pag-aari ng kanyang pamilya ang eroplano na ginamit para dalhin si dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa The Hague; ang umano’y paghingi niya ng fish import allocations para sa “ZC Victory Fishing Corporation,” at iginiit na ang ZC ay nangangahulugang Zamboanga City at hindi Zaldy Co; at ang pagtanggap umano niya ng pondo mula sa Department of Public Works and Highways.

“These are false, baseless, and politically charged,” diin niya.

Sinabi ni Co na dahil sa mga inilahad na alegasyon sa Senado, Kamara at sa media ay hinatulan na siya ng publiko na galit sa kanya at kanyang pamilya.

“This has caused the public to condemn and prejudge me even though no complaint before the proper fora has been filed against me,” saad pa nito.

Sa kabila ng revocation order, muling nanawagan si Co para sa patas na proseso.

“I hope that, when I return, I would be afforded due process and that you would ensure the safety of my family and me,” sabi niya.

Binigyan ni Dy si Co ng hanggang Lunes, Setyembre 29, upang bumalik sa bansa at harapin ang mga paratang laban sa kanya at ang hindi umano pagsunod ay maaaring ituring na pagtalikod sa legal na proseso at magreresulta sa pagsisimula ng angkop na disciplinary at legal actions laban sa kanya.

Inilabas ng Speaker ang ultimatum sa isang liham noong Biyernes bilang tugon sa sagot ni Co hinggil sa pagbawi ng kanyang travel clearance.

Ayon kay Dy, ang sulat ni Co ay ipinadala sa House committee on ethics, kung saan may nakabinbing reklamo laban sa kanya.

“Should you choose to return home, the House will coordinate with the proper authorities to secure your safety and that of your family,” sabi ni Dy.

Sinabi ni Dy na ang pagbabalik sa Pilipinas ni Co ay isang oportunidad upang masagot nito ang mga alegasyon laban sa kanya.

“The only proper way to address these matters is not through correspondence from abroad, but by returning, appearing at the proper forum, and answering the charges directly,” dagdag pa ni Dy.
