OPISYAL nang sumali si Gabriela Party-list Rep. Sarah Jane Elago sa House minority bloc bilang ika-28 miyembro nito.

“We warmly welcome Congresswoman Elago into the minority bloc, where she can surely help us perform our indispensable functions to promote legislative integrity, uphold accountability, and give voice to alternative viewpoints,” sinabi ni House Minority Leader Marcelino “Nonoy” Libanan.

“A vibrant democracy thrives when the majority’s decisions are tempered by the steady vigilance of an independent minority,” dagdag ni Libanan.

Nag-courtesy call si Elago kay Libanan noong Setyembre 23, matapos siyang pormal na magpahayag ng intensyon na sumali sa minority bloc sa pamamagitan ng sulat.

Binigyang-diin ni Libanan na malaking tulong ang presensya ni Elago sa pagpapalakas ng kakayahan ng minority bloc sa gawaing lehislatibo, lalo na sa mga pagdinig sa komite.

“With only 28 members, every addition to the minority counts. Congresswoman Elago’s experience and dedication will help ensure that we are present and effective in the many committees where important policies are shaped,” ani Libanan.

“Her track record of passionate advocacy for women, youth, and marginalized sectors will also enrich the perspectives we bring to legislative debates and strengthen our collective effort to hold government to account,” dagdag pa ni Libanan.

Ang 35-anyos na si Elago ay nagtapos sa University of the Philippines Diliman at dating nagsilbi bilang Kinatawan ng Kabataan Party-list mula 2016 hanggang 2022.

Noong nakaraang linggo, idineklara ng Commission on Elections si Elago bilang ika-64 na nanalong party-list representative sa midterm elections noong Mayo 2025
