Petisyon laban sa pag-upo ni PBBM ibinasura ng SC

IBINASURA ng Korte Suprema ang mga petisyon na humaharang sa pag-upo ni President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Sa botong 13-0 sinabi ng Korte Suprema na walang legal na batayan upang paupuin si Marcos na nakakuha ng mahigit 31 milyong boto sa katatapos na halalan.

“The Supreme Court En Banc, during its session today, 28 June 2022, dismissed the petitions in G.R. No. 260374 (Fr. Christian B. Buenafe, et al. v. Commission on Elections, et al.) and G. R. No. 260426 (Bonifacio P. Ilagan, et al. v. Commission on Elections, et al.),” sabi ng inilabas na pahayag ng Supreme Court.

Hindi lumahok sa pagdedesisyon sina Associate Justices Henri Jean Paul B. Inting at Antonio T. Kho, Jr.

Si Inting ay kapatid ni incumbent Comelec Commissioner Socorro B. Inting, at si Kho naman ay dating Comelec commissioner.

Nauna ng ibinasura ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ang mga petisyon na kumukuwestyon sa kuwalipikasyon ni Marcos na tumakbo sa halalan.

“The Court held that in the exercise of its power to decide the present controversy led them to no other conclusion but that respondent Marcos Jr. is qualified to run for and be elected to public office,” sabi sa desisyon. “Likewise, his COC, being valid and in accord with the pertinent law, was rightfully upheld by the Comelec.”
