ITINULAK ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez ang pagkakaroon ng partnership ng Pilipinas, Estados Unidos, at India sa pagpapaganda ng digital public infrastructure ng bansa.

Ginawa ni Speaker Romualdez ang pahayag matapos itong dumalo sa Digital Public Infrastructure lecture noong Biyernes (oras sa Amerika) na ginanap sa International Monetary Fund (IMF) headquarters sa Washington D.C.

Nakausap ni Speaker Romualdez ang naturang pagpupulong si Nandan Nilekani, isa sa founder ng Indian multinational information technology company na Infosys.

“I think it is very important for the Philippines, India and the US to lead in this digital public infrastructure initiative because nations have much to gain from this,” sabi ni Romualdez.

Ayon kay Speaker Romualdez ang pagtatayo ng mga public digital platform ay akma sa pangako ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na bibilisan ang digital transformation ng bansa.

“This is the reason why the House of Representatives has passed the E-Governance/E-Government Bill, which seeks to shift the entire bureaucracy to the digital space for faster and transparent delivery of services, and for better engagement with the public,” ani Speaker Romualdez.

“The digitalization will definitely prove to be the panacea to the economic problems left behind by COVID-19,” dagdag pa ng lider ng Kamara.

And digital public infrastructure ay ang mga imprastraktura na magagamit ng publiko na makipag-ugnayan sa iba sa pamamagitan ng digital space. Kalimitan itong pinopondohan ng gobyerno hindi katulad ng mga pribadong digital platform na bilyun-bilyon ang kinikita.

Dumalo rin sina Finance Sec. Benjamin Diokno, Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Gov. Felipe Medalla, at National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Sec. Arsenio Balisacan sa World Bank-International Monetary Fund (WB-IMF) Spring Meetings sa Washington D.C. upang ipakita ang malakas na ekonomiya ng Pilipinas at hikayatin ang mga negosyante at mga bangko na magnegosyo sa bansa.

Sinabi ni Speaker Romualdez na nagpahayag si IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva ng best wishea sa ekonomiya ng Pilipinas.

“She is very, very delighted with our

attendance and presence during the Spring Meeting of the IMF here in

Washington D.C. We look forward to further interaction with the IMF, World Bank, and the others,” sabi ni Speaker Romualdez.

Sa pakikipagpulong sa economic team, muling tiniyak ni Romualdez na suportado ng Kamara de Representantes ang Agenda for Prosperity at 8-point socioeconomic program ni Pangulong Marcos.

“We would like to congratulate them for a job well done in presenting the state of our economy to US investors,” dagdsg pa ni Speaker Romualdez.

Sa kanyang talumpati sa harap ng mga mamumuhunan at mga opisyal ng IMF at WB, sinabi ni Diokno na ang 2022-2028 Medium Term Fiscal Framework na inaprubahan ng Kongreso noong Hulyo ang nagsisilbing gabay kung papaano pauunlarin ang ekonomiya ng bansa.

“The targets and measures under this framework are firmly supported not only by the President but also by both houses of Congress,” sabi ni Diokno.

Binanggit din ni Diokno ang mga panukala na inaprubahan ng Kongreso upang dumami ang pamumuhunan sa bansa gaya ng pag-amyenda sa Public Service Act, ang Foreign Investments Act at ang Retail Trade Liberalization Act.

Sinabi ni Diokno noong nakaraang taon ay naitala ng bansa ang 7.6 porsyentong economic growth na siyang pinakamataas sa nakalipas na 47 taon.

“This was higher than our full-year target of 6.5 percent to 7.5 percent and exceeded forecasts of local private sector analysts and international financial institutions, placing the Philippines among the best performing economies in the Asia-Pacific region,” dagdag pa ng kalihim.

Ngayong taon ang target na paglago ng ekonomiya ay 6 porsyento hanggang 7 porsyento.
