ITINANGGI ni Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno na may kaugnayan ang Executive Order na ipinalabas ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa pag-alis ng dibidendo na dapat i-remit ng Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) sa national government sa panukalang Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF).

“The reduction in the remittance of dividend of LBP (Land Bank of the Philippines) and DBP have been made in the past, long before the MIF was conceived, in order to improve the ability of both government banks to deliver on their mandates and, at the same time, maintain their financial standing,” paliwanag ni Diokno.

Mula sa 50% ay ibinaba sa zero ang dibidendo na kailangang i-remit ng DBP sa national government.

Ayon kay Diokno layunin ng EO na mapaganda ang capital position ng DBP at makasunod ito sa regulasyon ng Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

“The grant of dividend relief aims to provide DBP with a stronger capital base in support of its mandated developmental programs,” dagdag pa ni Diokno.

Sa pagtataas ng kapital ng DBP, magagawa umano nitong madagdagan ang suporta sa mga maliliit na negosyante na nangangailangang umutang para sa kani-kanilang proyekto at programa.

“The various programs of the DBP aim to address gaps in the agricultural sector and increase the resilience of the agricultural value chain in the pursuit of national food security,” sabi sa EO na inilabas ng Malacañang.
