Solidarity on Cluster Munitions Ban inihirit ng Pilipinas
NANAWAGAN ang Pilipinas ng Solidarity on Cluster Munitions Ban.
Ginawa ng Pilipinas ang pahayag matapos mag-host ang Pililijas sa Southeast Asia and Pacific Regional Workshop on the Convention on Cluster Munitions sa Manila noong Marso 18 hanggang 19.
Katuwang ng Pilipinas ang Implementation Support Unit (ISU) ng Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM).
Ayon sa DFA, isinagawa ang aktibidad bilang pagpapatunaybsa malakas na commitment ng Pilipinas sa humanitarian disarmament at universal adherence sa CCM.
Layunin ng aktibidad na mabigyan strategic platform para maitaguyod ang universalization at epektibong maipatupad ang CCM.
“The Philippines has long championed humanitarian disarmament, recognizing the devastating humanitarian impact of cluster munitions. As President of MSP13, we are committed to fostering dialogue and regional cooperation to strengthen the CCM and protect civilian lives,” pahayag ni Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Maria Teresa Almojuela ng Office of United Nations and International Organizations.
Nabatid na ang cluster munitions ay nagdudulot ng long-term civilian harm at nagbibigay ng seryosong humanitarian challenge partikular na sa conflict-affected regions.
Ipinagbabawal sa CCM ang oaggamit, produkayon, stockpiling, at transfer ng mga armas.
