IKINATUWA ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez ang ulat ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) na bumaba ang naitalang inflation rate noong Hulyo, at tiniyak ang patuloy na pagpupursige upang mapababa ang presyo ng pagkain.

“The PSA report is a welcome development. It is a piece of good news for all of us, for President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ R. Marcos Jr., for Congress, and especially for our people,” ani Romualdez.

Sa ulat ng PSA, bumaba ang inflation, o ang bilis ng pagtaas ng presyo ng mga bilihin, sa 0.9 porsiyento ngayong Hulyo—mas mababa kumpara sa 1.4 porsiyento noong Hunyo at 4.4 porsiyento noong Hulyo 2024.

“This means that the administration of President BBM, with the help of Congress, principally the House of Representatives, has successfully tamed inflation,” ani Romualdez.

“The inflation rate is not just a number. It represents more Filipino families being able to afford rice and basic food items, more Filipinos being able to fight hunger,” dagdag pa niya.

Binigyang-diin ni Speaker Romualdez na pagdating sa bigas, patuloy ang pagbaba ng presyo nito sa merkado mula nang ipatupad ni Pangulong Marcos ang pagbaba ng import tariff at aktibong gampanan ng Kamara ang oversight function upang matigil ang profiteering, hoarding at price manipulation ng ilang trader, wholesaler at middlemen.

“We will continue to do oversight to make sure that prices are in check and are kept low, especially that of rice,” diin ni Romualdez.

Tinukoy rin ng mambabatas na ang 0.9 porsiyentong inflation noong Hulyo ay ang pinakamababa sa taong ito, at posibleng pinakamababa sa nakalipas na anim na taon.

Batay sa datos ng PSA, ang inflation rate ay nasa 2.9 porsiyento noong Enero, 2.1 porsiyento noong Pebrero, 1.8 porsiyento noong Marso, 1.4 porsiyento noong Abril, 1.3 porsiyento noong Mayo at bumalik sa 1.4 porsiyento noong Hunyo.

“We hope to sustain the trajectory of these numbers, or at least keep prices low for our people,” dagdag pa ni Romualdez.
