KULANG umano ang kuwentong inilatag ni dating Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Batangas District Engineer Abelardo Calalo sa kanyang counter-affidavit.

Sinabi ni Batangas Rep. Leandro Legarda Leviste na mayroong kasamang resibo ang perang dinala sa kanya ni Calalo na nagkakahalaga ng 3,126,900 o 3 porsiyento ng tatlong proyekto na may kabuuang halagang P104,230,000.

“It seems DE omitted from his affidavit that he named another contractor who was willing to give an initial P15M and that he spoke with many others who were also ready and willing na magpadala ng suporta,” ani Leviste.

Pinalalabas ni Calalo na donasyon ang pera na dinala nito kay Leviste dahil natuwa umano ang mga contractor sa kanyang programa.

“DE should not divert attention away from the contractors. To show that he is not covering up for them, DE can admit the long list of names of other contractors and proponents of projects whom he told me were also ready and willing to give support and how contractors are selected for projects in the 1st District of Batangas,” dagdag pa ni Leviste.

Iginiit naman ni Atty. Raymund Fortun, abogado ni Batangas 1st District Engineer Abelardo Calalo, na ang insidente ay maituturing na “instigation” at hindi entrapment, dahil napilitan umano si Calalo na gawin ang akto sa oras ng kanyang pagkakaaresto.

“Engineer Calalo has denied the allegation that he tried to bribe Congressman Leviste,” pahayag ni Fortun sa panayam sa radyo dzBB.
