PORMAL na nagbitiw si Senador Panfilo M. Lacson bilang chairman ng Senate Committee on Accountability of Public Officers and Investigations o mas kilala bilang Blue Ribbon Committee, matapos umano ang mga puna ng ilang kasamahan sa Senado hinggil sa “direksiyon” ng kasalukuyang imbestigasyon sa kontrobersiya sa flood-control projects.

Sa kanyang liham na may petsang Oktubre 7, 2025 na ipinadala kay Senate President Vicente C. Sotto III, sinabi ni Lacson na “I have always maintained that I serve at the pleasure of the Filipino people,” at ipinaalala na ang mga chairperson ng komite sa Senado ay inihahalal ng plenaryo at nanunungkulan “contingent upon the confidence and pleasure” ng kapwa senador.

“In the course of the current investigation, which has implicated some senators in the flood-control mess, a number of our colleagues have expressed disappointment with the ‘direction’ of the Blue Ribbon Committee,” ayon kay Lacson. Idinagdag niya na maling ipinakalat umano ng ilang kritiko na siya ay “zeroing in on several of my colleagues while purportedly protecting those members of the Lower House perceived to be the principal actors in the budget anomalies related to the substandard and ghost flood-control projects.”

“Nothing could be further from the truth. This narrative is categorically false,” diin pa ni Lacson. “These misrepresentations are being floated mostly by critics opposed to our efforts to get to the bottom of the flood-control anomalies. We go where the evidence leads us, not by the noise coming from highly partisan political persuasions.”

Binigyang-diin pa ng senador na wala umanong motibong pampulitika sa kanyang mga hakbang. “Truth is, I do not need to amass political capital. I have enough of that already because I entertain no further political plans after my term ends in 2031.”

“Having said all that, I hereby tender my resignation as the chairman of the Committee on Accountability of Public Officers and Investigations otherwise known as the Blue Ribbon Committee,” pagtatapos ni Lacson sa kanyang liham.

Hindi pa inaanunsyo ng pamunuan ng Senado kung sino ang papalit bilang bagong pinuno ng Blue Ribbon Committee.
