MANILA – Walang Pilipino ang kabilang sa 10 kataong ipina-deport ng Estados Unidos patungo sa southern African state ng Eswatini, ayon sa Embahada ng Pilipinas sa Washington, D.C. nitong Sabado.

“After verification with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Embassy was able to confirm that no Filipino citizen has been involved in any third-country deportation from the United States,” ayon sa inilabas na statement.

Sinabi ng embahada na may isang indibidwal na hindi napatunayan ang pagiging mamamayan ng Pilipinas kaya’t hindi siya maaaring i-deport pabalik sa bansa.

Nauna nang iniulat ng isang abogado sa Estados Unidos para sa dalawang Vietnamese nationals na kabilang sa grupo ang “three Vietnamese, one Filipino, one Cambodian and four [to] six others.”

“The Embassy continues to engage with relevant US authorities to ensure the well-being of its citizens in the United States and maintains its readiness to receive all Filipino citizens under final order of removal,” sinabi ng embahada.

Kinumpirma rin ng pamahalaan ng Eswatini na 10 dayuhan ang dumating sa African Kingdom noong Lunes, at sinabing ang mga ito ay ilalagay “in a secured area separate from the public, while arrangements are made for their return to their countries of origin.”

Ang administrasyon ni Trump ay nakikipagkasundo para sa deportasyon sa third countries, bilang bahagi ng mas pinaigting na kampanya nito laban sa ilegal na imigrasyon.
