SINABI ni dating Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez ng Leyte nitong Lunes na ang Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) ang pinakamainam na lugar upang talakayin ang umano’y mga insertion sa mga proyekto sa flood control.

Kaniyang binigyang-diin na nakatuon ang fact-finding body sa katotohanan at ebidensiya, hindi sa haka-haka o ingay ng pulitika. Nangako rin siyang babalik sa komisyon kung siya’y muling ipapatawag.

Sa isang ambush interview matapos ang kaniyang pagharap sa ICI, nagpasalamat si Romualdez sa komisyon at ibinahagi ang kaniyang personal na kaalaman sa proseso ng badyet at mga isyung kaugnay nito.

“Sa ngayon po, it’s about facts and evidence and hindi lang political noise or speculations kaya the ICI commissioners were able to ask me many questions and I was able to answer them, and I feel very, very happy and I welcome this opportunity,” ani Romualdez sa mga mamamahayag.

Sinabi ni Romualdez na pinahahalagahan niya ang pagkakataong maipahayag ang kaniyang panig nang direkta sa fact-finding body.

“I’m very glad that I was invited to the ICI to share my personal knowledge on the budget process and, of course, any information about the insertion on the flood control, that is the basis of my invitation,” ani Romualdez, kaugnay ng unang imbitasyon ng ICI nitong Lunes.

“I’m glad to have shared my personal knowledge on information with the ICI because I want to talk to the ICI in its investigation, to support the investigation, and the fact-finding to resolve the issues surrounding the concerns of the ICI,” dagdag pa niya.

Nang tanungin kung handa siyang muling humarap, sinabi ni Romualdez na handa siyang bumalik anumang oras na siya’y ipatawag.

“I am ready to come back to the commission anytime I’m invited so that if I can share more information, I will do so,” pahayag ni Romualdez.

Nilinaw din ni Romualdez na hindi siya iniimbita ng Department of Justice (DOJ).

“I am not being invited to the DOJ,” sinabi ni Romualdez.
