UMAASA ang isang mambabatas mula sa Mindanao na hindi pambobola lang ang sinasabi ng Senado na aaprubahan nito ang panukala na amyendahan ang restrictive economic provisions ng Konstitusyon.

Ipinapaalala rin ni Lanao del Norte Rep. Mohamad Khalid Dimaporo, chairman ng House Committee on Muslim Affairs, na umiikli na ang oras ng Senado para aprubahan ang panukalang pagbabago sa Saligang Batas.

“So, I really hope and I have faith in the Senate, they are an independent institution. But I really hope that this is not dribble-dribble politics. At the very least, the Filipino voters deserve to know how our senators stand. It’s not busy-busy kami,” ayon ka Dimoporo.

Ang reaksyon ng mambabatas ay nag-ugat sa sinabi ng Senado na ipagpapaliban nito ang pagpapasya sa Resolution of Both Houses no. 6 sa pagbabalik ng sesyon sa Abril.

Binanggit pa ni Dimaporo sa pulong balitaan sa Mababang Kapulungan na bukod sa RBH No. 6, may 33 pang mga priority measure na kabilang sa Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) ang kailangang talakayin ng Senado.

“Now if you think about it, when we adjourn (Wednesday), we return na naman (on April). I think we only have 1 month. Then we have a long break (Mayo 25 hanggang Hulyo 21), then it’s SONA (State of the Nation Address). After SONA, it’s budget and we’re all very busy with the budget,” dagdag pa ng mambabatas.

“Come October we’ll be filing for our candidacies (for the May 2025 elections). So, we really only have until the SONA to get all of these done as legislators. After the SONA, the circus is in town again and (we) will be campaigning,” ayon pa kay Dimaporo.

Ayon kay Dimaporo maaaring gamitin ng Senado ang bakasyon upang matapos ang pagtalakay sa RBH 6.

“What we hope to see is that the Senate is tackling it in the plenary before the next SONA. Otherwise, it will be too late,” giit pa ng mambabatas.

Dapat na ring malaman ng publiko, ayon pa kay Dimaporo ang tunay na paninindigan ng mga senador kaugnay sa pag-amyenda sa economic provisions ng Konstitusyon.

“Filipino voters need to know exactly where their senators stand. So, at the very least, I hope they bring it to the plenary and bring it to a vote before the SONA comes. But the urgency is there. We take a break, one month is gone, then we only have one month of work to do. And the Senate is 33 LEDAC measures short of the House of Representatives,” ayon sa mambabatas mula sa Mindanao.

Binigyan diin naman ni House Deputy Majority Leader at Iloilo Rep. Janette Garin na mahalagang mapagtibay na ang panukalang pag-amyenda sa economic provision sa lalong madaling panahon.

“Is it an urgent matter? Is it a need? Klarong klaro naman po na talagang kailangan ito ng taongbayan. Kasi habang pinapatagal natin na ipasa ang RBH 6 ay lalo nating sinasabing magtiis ang mga Pilipino sa mahal ng bilihin,” ayon kay Garin.

“Bakit ito nagiging mahal? Dahil hindi tayo nagpapapasok ng logistics sa Pilipinas. At ano ang impact nito? Lahat ng bagay-bagay na galing sa ibang bansa na raw material ng ating pangangailangan or finish product na kailangan natin, pagkain man ito, bahay man ito, damit man ito sa araw-araw nating pangangailangan. Ang pag-ikot niyan sa Pilipinas is triple the cost kaya handed down iyan. Ito iyong isang pangunahing tinutugunan ng economic cha-cha,” dagdag pa ng mambabatas.

“So, I really can’t see the logic why the Senate is delaying this matter? Because their primary responsibility of Senate and Congress is to work hard. Work double time regardless of schedule kasi utang natin sa taongbayan ang ating obligasyon,” giit pa ni Garin.
